Chase the Taste
When word got out about the green chile cheeseburgers at Chase the Taste I made the trip to US 54 and Martin Luther King Boulevard to see if it was as good as the restaurants in New Mexico, as reviewers had proclaimed. I certainly felt that this was not an exaggeration, although they did not say this GCC (as we say to avoid typing it out every time) was on par with ALL of the New Mexico burgers. It was the closest I have had in El Paso, though.
Go past the mural to find Chase the Taste
Now the restaurant has moved to West El Paso. The building is not visible from either Sunset Road or Doniphan, but you can find it by following the driveway just west of Ardovino’s and going past the “El Paso” street mural.
The Food
Borracho burger
On my first visit to the new location on the west side they had a special where you could get a Borracho Burger bundled with fries and a drink for a special price. This one also had green chile so I figured it would also be good, but it ended up really not being to my taste. (Full Disclosure: I think this was the borracho burger but I did not write it down so I am not sure which burger it is).
House salad
The House Salad is one of the best salads in the city. This and a burger are more than adequate to make a meal.
Overall Comments
I do think the green chile cheeseburger is as good as other reviewers have said it is. I do not know of any others in El Paso that really compare, although if your primary factor is getting the best cut of meat and still have legit green chile then I would recommend the Magic Bistro.
