REVIEW FROM Steve’s Gastronomic Home Page (2003-2011)
2705 26th St.
Angela’s is a popular lunch spot located near the Texas Tech campus and the large medical complexes. With a basic menu of high quality sandwiches and other dishes, choices rotate from day to day but never stray very far from the few recipes that the restaurant seems to have perfected. While I cannot point to a favorite dish, just about everything I have tried has been good. Other members of my family are even bigger fans of Angela’s, sticking to a more traditional American diet than I do. None of us have had anything at Angela’s we did not like.
The Brownies are good enough that I get a large order to take home or on the road when I am leaving town. Even if I have enjoyed a meal at one of Lubbock’s Asian or other ethnic restaurants, there always seems to be room for one of Angela’s desserts. While brownies are not the only dessert offered, they are so much better than others I have tried that they are hard to resist.
(Update 2026) As of now Angela’s brownies are still the best I have ever eaten, with second place being Strawberry Fields Cafe in Midland (still open), and third being Village Bakery Cafe in Amarillo (now closed). Whatever is going on in West Texas, they need to keep it up.
