Santa Michoacana
The experience of going to Santa Michoacana gave me the feeling that there is something different here that is not present in other ice cream establishments. I am not sure what it is, but the restaurant has published its own explanation:
Santa Michoacana is a project that will present a new concept for ice cream in El Paso, Tx. With more than 30 years of experience in craft ice cream and popsicles parlors in Mexico, our concept Santa Michoacana, Ice Cream & Gallery presents a fusion of traditional mexican flavors and international trends, adding “art” to create a unique experience.
I would say the “craft” aspect of it is what separates it the most from other places. Everything tastes home made and the choices seem like flavors of the day that they decide upon in the morning. In any case, there seems to be a vast difference between this and chain ice cream restaurants.
Some of the choices
I hope it is not too obvious, but this blog has had some technical problems over the past few months. One is that I do not have access to some of my notes, one being that I do not know which flavor I ordered. That is balanced, though, by the fact that anything here will be good (as demonstrated by both my reaction and ones from my friends).
One of the flavors of the day
In terms of quality I rate this as about equal to Braum’s in Oklahoma. This means that it is fresh (Braum’s only opens locations that are within a one-day’s drive of Tuttle, Oklahoma).
The difference, though, is that at Braum’s there are certain flavors that are my favorites. Here, thou, I do not think it matters what flavor I order–it is the freshness that is so good. They are skilled in putting together good flavors, but I think I will like all of them.
