Santorini
While I know Las Cruces has good New Mexican food, it seems to be lacking many of the cuisines found in similar sized cities around the country. Thankfully, though, Mediterranean is not one of these cuisines. Serving Greek and Lebanese food, it hit the spot for me.
In El Paso I have found Nour to be the most satisfying restaurant for Lebanese cuisine, and is comparable to the restaurants in Oklahoma City. Now I think it will be a race between Nour and Santorini for best Mediterranean restaurant in the region. This is not even mentioning the fact that Santorini has Greek food as well.

Side salad is included on dinner plates
A small Greek Salad is served with platters and sets the stage for a delicious meal coming up.

Chicken taouk platter
The menu offered an almost too large choice of dishes but with the help of the waitress I thought the Chicken Taouk platter would be a good decision. It was in fact all that I had anticipated, and to me was as satisfying as a similar dish at Nour in El Paso. Even though there were lunch specials available it seemed that the platters were an equally good deal, but perhaps with more food.

Vegetarian sampler
The Vegetarian Platter consists of your choice of three out of the seven items available, with large servings of each one. All three of the items here were good choices. The Hummus was as good as any in the area. The Baba Ghanoush is not normally one of my favorite items, but I could eat a plate full of the one here. The Tzatziki was a great complement to the other items.

Santorini’s dining room
My takeaway was that Santorini is on the same level as Nour with the extra feature of serving Greek food. This is also some consolation for the fact that apparently Tiffany’s is not going to be around any more.
One disappointment I have with both Santorini and Nour Restaurants is that you cannot get a combination plate with both meat and vegetable dishes, with the exception of the three kabobs combo plate at Santorini which comes with a side of Hummus.
Quick Comparison
- Better at Santorini: chicken taouk, baba ghanoush, pita
- Better at Nour: salad, rice, labneh (compared to tzatziki here), shish kabab (not available at Santorini)
